Treatment of postmenopausal women with hormone receptor-positive or unknown advanced breast cancer that was progressing after anti-estrogen therapy. First-line treatment of postmenopausal women with hormone receptor-positive or unknown locally advanced or metastatic breast cancer. Extended adjuvant treatment of postmenopausal women with early breast cancer who have received prior standard adjuvant tamoxifen therapy.
Potential side effects
Common side effects of Femara include: bone fracture, edema, arthralgia, hypercholesterolemia, osteoporosis, dizziness, fatigue, and flushing. Other side effects include: myalgia. Some of the side effects that can occur with letrozole may not need medical attention. As your body adjusts to the medicine during treatment these side effects may go away. If any of the side effects continue, are bothersome or if you have any questions about them, check with your doctor.
Cautions
Femara is only indicated in postmenopausal women. You should not take Femara if you are premenopausal. Your doctor should discuss the need for adequate birth control if you have the potential to become pregnant, if you are not sure of your postmenopausal status, or if you recently became postmenopausal. You should not take Femara if you are pregnant as it may cause harm to an unborn child. You should also discuss with your doctor what to do if you are nursing a child.
Drug interactions
Talk to your doctor before using citalopram together with letrozole. Combining these medications may increase the blood levels of citalopram and increase the risk of certain side effects, including an irregular heart rhythm that may be serious or life-threatening. Your doctor may be able to prescribe alternatives that do not interact, or you may need a dose adjustment or more frequent monitoring by your doctor to safely use both medications.
Food interactions

Special information
Femara in Bodybuilding. Letrozole being so potent should only be used as a last resort. This is because Letrozole is proven to reduce estrogen build-up by a staggering 98%. Now this is good if you already have a gyno situation that will not subside with the use of the other medicines.
